Date Night: Archery

A while back, I bought a deal on Groupon that was supposed to be a Valentine's Day gift. After many scheduling conflicts, Ricky and I were able to get together one Saturday in May (3 months later!) to take advantage of this deal!

We both like trying new experiences, so I knew he'd enjoy this!

Our bows!I'm always looking for interesting and unique date night ideas. Here's one that was pretty challenging and enjoyable!

Boss Archery  has an indoor shooting range for beginners to experts. We found a deal on Groupon (again!) and headed out to Concord, NC.!
The owners, Clyde and Jean, have many years of experience in archery, and are quite friendly! Clyde taught us how to handle the bow, and gave us tips on shooting with accuracy. Jean was as sweet as could be, and cheered us on!

Our lesson was about 30 minutes long, followed by 90 minutes of practice. Jean was there to help change the targets and to give us tips (such as a "keep your elbow UP!")..

And surprisingly, I didn't shoor the floor, lol!

If you're looking for something unique to do in the Charlotte area, give this a try! We had a little wager going on to see who would hit the most targets.... and he's buying me dinner next weekend!

Date Night: Shakespeare in the Park

Last Friday, Ricky and I went uptown at the green to see the Charlotte Shakespeare production of “The Taming of the Shrew”. I’ve never read the play, but we enjoyed it anyway! From previous experiences of this group’s performances, we knew it would be a unique production and cast. This version of Taming of the Shrew was set in the wild, wild, west. How’s that for a distinctive Shakespearean outing?

The play does have an intermission, so why not stop by one of my favorite pizza spots? Fuel Pizza is yummy and affordable! Plus, you can sit outside and still hear the play.

Performances run until June 16, and start at 8pm on Thursday-Saturday evenings, and on Sundays at 6:30pm. Seating is limited, so get there early. There are park benches available, but for closer seating, bring a picnic blanket or chair. We parked underground at the Green (for $5). This event is FREE, but they do ask for donations! Bring cash and support the local arts!

I enjoyed this so much, that I may go again! I hope you do as well! Have a wonderful weekend!
